Earth movements and volume calculation

The  calculation of earth movements  involves a detailed comparison process between two pieces of land that share a common origin but go through different stages of modification of their surface. These calculations are reflected in  plans  that represent the difference between the  original land , in its natural state, and the  land  theoretically modified through actions such as  excavations  or filling .

To carry out this process, a  volumetric calculation procedure is used  that is based on the comparison of  digital terrain models  obtained from  topographic plans  corresponding to different phases of the project. From this comparison, fundamental aspects are determined such as the  clearing , which refers to the amount of earth extracted, the  embankment , which indicates the amount of earth contributed, and the  difference  between the two, which provides a clear vision of the change in the volume of the land.

These earth movement calculations have transcendental importance in various fields. In the field of architecture, they are used in housing and grading projects to ensure precise and efficient planning of the land. On the other hand, in engineering, these calculations are essential in road layout projects, slope construction, among other infrastructure works, where careful management of the terrain and a detailed evaluation of the volumes of land involved are required.

In addition to their technical relevance, these earthwork calculations play a significant role in the environmental and economic management of projects. By providing an accurate estimate of the amount of earth to be moved, they allow for more efficient resource planning and a reduction in costs associated with excavation and filling of land.
